Four Years in the Saddle

Colonel Harry Gilmor, Harper and Brothers, New York, 1866 (1st Edition)

Hardback, bound in green cloth cover with gold embossed crossed cavalry swords , 7.5" x 5.5" approx. 300 pages. Good condition, binding is strong and pages intact. Some discoloration and staining, but overall well-kept for a book of its age. Priced very competitively.

This rare 1st edition tells the Civil War story of Colonel Gilmor as it relates to many battles in and around Virginia, and his imprisonment in POW camps in Baltimore and Boston. A captivating read for anyone interested, and an under-appreciated resource for Civil War historians. This rare 1st edition is inscribed on the inside leaf, "Samuel M. Weller, Forest Hill, Amherst Co. Virginia."
