About the author:
Robert Bersson is an artist, musician, writer, and longtime resident of the central Shenandoah Valley. He was a professor of art and art history at James Madison University from 1980 to 2003 and has continued to teach part-time, most recently with JMU’s Lifelong Learning Program. As an artist, Bob has worked in a wide variety of styles, subject areas, and media (drawing, painting, collage, assemblage). Living in Harrisonburg from 1980-2004, he created drawings of his neighborhood and the downtown from his attic perch on E. Wolfe Street. Moving to the Montezuma area of Rockingham County, he was inspired to draw landscapes and “farmscapes” of his rural surroundings. Bob much appreciates showing these small drawings at his favorite local museum (Rocktown History).
